JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA – William Allan Thompson, 88, formerly of Baltimore, Maryland, died on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 in the Christopher House, Worcester, after an illness.
He is survived by his sons, William E. Thompson and his wife Karen of Holden and Robert J. Thompson and his wife Lee Ann of Maynard; and four grandchildren, William, Hannah, Taylor and Rachel Thompson. He was born in Washington, DC, the son of William E. and Dorothy M. (Thompson) Thompson. Bill was raised in Ventnor, New Jersey, graduated from Ventnor High School and attended Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA. He was drafted into the U.S. Army serving in the medical detachment, 18th infantry regiment, European African Middle Eastern Theatre during World War II.
Bill was a salesman for Wareheim Air Brake Co. in Baltimore for many years, retiring in 1979. He was an avid sailor, member of the Glenmar Sailing Association and loved the ocean.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 2nd, at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
