Allan P. Marzilli

July 18, 1951 — April 14, 2015

WORCESTER – Allan P. Marzilli, 63, of Worcester, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015. He was born in Worcester, the son of Albert W. and Eva V. (Miklusis) Marzilli and lived here his entire life.

Besides his mother, Allan leaves four sisters, Sandy A. Marzilli, Gail E. Dillon, Karen Marzilli, and Gina Marzilli Shaughnessy and her husband Daniel, all of Worcester; his longtime partner of 20 years with whom he lived, Dalene McClintock and her children; three nephews, Mario Fratantonio and his wife Maria, their children, Anthony and Gianna; Tony Fratantonio; and Ryan Dillon of Maine and several aunts and cousins. He is predeceased by his father, Albert W. Marzilli.

Allan graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering Technology from Central New England College. After graduating college, he worked at Norton Company as an Engineer for 18 years. Allan then became a self-employed contractor in the Worcester area for many years.

Sports played a major role in Allan’s life. He was a long time member of the IAABO (International Association of Approved Basketball Officials, Inc.), Central Massachusetts Board 26, and served as a basketball official for 40 years. He enjoyed playing sports and as an adult played on local softball teams and flag football with the Massachusetts Flag Football Association’s Legends League in Worcester. He was an avid fan of all New England sports teams. Allan was a very thoughtful and kind-hearted person. He volunteered his time as a Big Brother with the Big Brother Big Sister Program of Central Mass. His family recalls his love of animals particularly for “Ubi,” his adopted Black Labrador. He rarely met someone he didn’t consider a friend and will be remembered as a loving son, brother, uncle and companion .

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Allan’s family from 8:30 to 10:30 AM on Saturday, April 18, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden, followed by a funeral service honoring his life at 10:30 AM. Burial will be private at St. John’s Cemetery in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 10 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
