STERLING – Alice Helen (Crowe) Blodgett, 88, of Newell Hill Road, died peacefully at home under the care of her loving family, on Saturday, November 5, 2011. She was born on April 23, 1923, the daughter of Samuel and Alice M. Crowe, and lived in Sterling for over 60 years.
Mrs. Blodgett is survived and will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Dr. James Thomas Blodgett; her daughters, Deborah Ann Blodgett and her husband Frank Cummings of Brewster and Donna Lee Blodgett of Florida; a grandson, James Scott Duncan and his wife Joy of California; and several great-grandchildren.
She graduated from Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse and went on to work at Worcester City Hospital. She later worked at Holden District Hospital for several years. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in West Boylston, and the East Lake Waushacum Association, where she was dedicated to the preservation of the lake. Mrs. Blodgett was also an avid golfer.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Mrs. Blodgett by attending an open house from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, at the Blodgett home located at 196 Newell Hill Road, Sterling. Burial will be private. In lieu flowers donations may be made to the East Lake Waushacum Association, Inc., P.O. Box 1118, Sterling, MA 01564. Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling.
