Biography
RUTLAND – Alfreda (Jachalska) Machnik, 81, of Rutland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.
Her husband of 31 years, Pawel J. Machnik died in 1986. She leaves her son, Henry J. Machnik; her daughter, Irena Massei and her husband, Joe, and a grandson, John H. Clark. Alfreda is predeceased by a grandson, Paul R. Clark who absolutely adored his grandmother.
Born in Poland, Alfreda was the daughter of Henry & Otylia Jachalska. Alfreda lived through so much growing up as child during World War II in Europe. In 1969 they settled in Rutland. She was a caring, loving, nurturing mother and a doting grandmother.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Alfreda’s family from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 7, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A funeral service honoring her life will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, September 8, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Rural Cemetery in Rutland. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wachusett Food Pantry, P.O. Box 62, Jefferson, MA 01522 ( www.wfp1995.org ).
The family wishes to thank the doctors & nurses at UMASS Memorial, the wonderful staff extended many acts of kindness and encouragement.
