HUBBARDSTON – Alfred A. Doane, Jr., 75, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2018 at the Jewish Healthcare Center in Worcester. He was a son of Alfred A. and Ruth I. (Shaffer) Doane.He attended Worcester Boy’s Trade High School and went on to enjoy a long career spanning more than 50 years as a service technician, retiring from Higgins Power Sport in 2008. Al was honored to receive the Golden Wrench Award of New England on three separate occasions. He was a member of the First Parish Unitarian Church of Hubbardston for many years and was active in community theatre. Al had a passion for building and racing motorcycles and was a member of the Camsters Hot Rod Club of Hubbardston and a Life Member of the Hubbardston Rod and Gun Club. Al will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife, Cynthia Washburn-Doane of Hubbardston; two sons, Alfred Doane III and his wife, Lori of Fryeburg, ME and Clayton Doane and his wife, Elidia of Spring Lake, NC; two daughters, Robin Doane-Irving and her husband, Mark of Cordova, AK and Caroline Doane of Hubbardston; two brothers, William and Leonard Doane, both of Hubbardston; grandchildren, Kyle and Keegan Irving and Daphanie and Crystal Doane; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Rebecca Doane in 2004.Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Al’s family from 10 to 11 am followed by a memorial service at 11 am on Sunday, August 19 at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Burial will follow at Rural Glen Cemetery, Route 68, Hubbardston.
