Biography
WORCESTER - Alfred A. Gammal, 82, a gentle man who loved making people feel special, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015. He leaves 2 brothers, Abraham A. Gammal and Albert A. Gammal, Jr and his wife, Margaret; a nephew, Joseph A. Gammal and his wife, Anna; 3 nieces, Candith A. Gammal, Sandra A. Caron and her husband, Michael and Gayle A. MacKoul and her husband, Joseph; 6 grandnephews and nieces, Joshua A. and Nicole A. Caron, Alexander J. and Christiana E. MacKoul and Nicholas J. and Lucas J. Gammal. A sister, Mary A. (Gammal) Kalil died in 2000. He also leaves his beloved caregiver, Mary Keogh. He was born in Worcester, a son of the late Albert A. Gammal, Sr. and Jennie (Shaker) Seeds and lived in Worcester his entire life. He graduated from the former Commerce High School.

He was a member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral and was a mail handler for the U.S. Postal Service for many years. Previously, he was employed at the former Gammal Chemical Company in Worcester. He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force. He was an avid sports enthusiast, loved the Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics and enjoyed bowling. He was known to greet all, even strangers, with the kindest hello and smile.

His family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Millbury Health Care Center for the loving and compassionate care they extended to Alfred and the entire Gammal family.

Family and friends are invited to visit with Alfred’s family on Saturday, March 7, 2015 from 10:30 am - 12:00 noon at St. George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna Street, Worcester. A funeral service, officiated by the Rev. Fr. Milad Selim, will be held at 12:00 noon in the Cathedral. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery.
The family requests flowers be omitted and contributions made to St. George Orthodox Cathedral Endowment Fund, 30 Anna Street, Worcester, MA 01604.
