CLINTON – Albert “Al” S. Bowman, 74, of 1 Coolidge Place, formerly of Lancaster, died Friday, October 7, 2005, in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after a long battle with cancer.
He leaves his wife of 51 years, Dorice M. (Somerville) Bowman; two daughters, Cathy B. Hamilton and her husband Alexander of Milford, New Hampshire, and Nancy E. Elia and her husband Rocci of Lancaster; two grandsons, Kurt Hamilton of Milford, New Hampshire, and Stephen Elia of Lancaster; nephews and nieces. He was born and raised in Clinton, son of Jacob and Mildred (Eisner) Bowman, and lived 51 years in Lancaster before recently moving to Clinton.
Mr. Bowman graduated from Clinton High School, Wentworth Institute, Boston, and Western New England College, Springfield. He worked as a mechanical engineer for Norton Company and Warner Swasey. He enjoyed traveling, gardening and spending time with his family. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clinton, and was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.
A memorial service for Mr. Bowman will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 13, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. Burial will be in Reservoir Pines Cemetery, 225 West Boylston Street (Rte. 110), Clinton. Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12, in the funeral home.
