Albert ''Al'' Robillard

HOLDEN – Albert “Al” Robillard, 86, of 66 Cranbrook Drive, a 40-year resident of Holden, died Tuesday, July 11, 2006, in Holden Nursing Home, after an illness.

His wife, Rita E. (Blain) Robillard, died in 2005. He leaves his son with whom he lived, Robert A. Robillard and his wife Kathy; a brother, Wilfred of Westminster; a sister, Nancy Arcangeli of Westminster; three grandchildren, Brian, Tracy and Heather; and a great-grandson, Liam. He was born in Enfield, New Hampshire, son of Ubald and Georgiana (Fortier) Robillard, and lived in Westminster, 20 years in St. Petersburg, Florida, before moving to Holden 40 years ago. He was a 1939 graduate of St. Bernard’s High School in Fitchburg and a 1942 graduate of Worcester Boys Trade.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, joining in 1942. He served as Flight Chief from 1943-5 in support of combat operations in the Mediterranean theater. As a member of the 488th bombardment squadron, he was awarded 8 bronze stars, a bronze star medal and a purple heart.

Mr. Robillard was a self-employed plumbing and heating contractor for 30 years, retiring in 1975. He taught plumbing at Worcester Boys Trade and was one the area’s first master plumbers. He was past member of the Holden Exchange Club, Central Mass. Builder’s Association and St. Mary’s Church in Jefferson.

A graveside service for Mr. Robillard will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, at Woodside Cemetery, 9 Narrows Road, Westminster. Memorial donations in his name may be made to the Mustard Seed, 93 Piedmont Street, Worcester, MA 01609. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, is directing arrangements.
