WORCESTER – Alan P. Johnston, 61, a lifelong resident of Worcester, died at home on Sunday, August 19, 2012. Alan leaves his loving wife of 15 years, Debbie (Rogan) Johnston; his devoted mother, Doris E. (Washburn) Johnston of Worcester; his two children, Jeffrey A. and Breanna N. Johnston both of Worcester; his two stepsons, Eric Popham and his wife Deborah and their children Allana and Xavier, and John Popham; two brothers, Jay and his wife Michelle Johnston of Hubbardston, and Bruce and his wife Suzanne Johnston of Worcester; two grandsons, Connor and Cody Johnston; a brother-in-law, Michael and his wife Cindy Rogan of Oviedo, FL; and several nephews and nieces.
Alan was born in Worcester, the son of Doris E. (Washburn) and the late Everett J. Johnston Jr., and graduated from Doherty High School. He attended New England College and the former Worcester Junior College. Alan proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, and went on to a career with UMass Memorial Healthcare in the Computer Service Department, retiring in 2005. He attended the First Congregational Church of Worcester for many years where he leaves many dear friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service with military honors at Grove Cemetery, 1284 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, on Monday, August 27, 2012 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Veteran’s Inc., 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
