WEST BOYLSTON – Amelia A. (Leonardi) Hayes, 81, of 31 Highland Avenue, died at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, November 12, 2006.
Her husband of 54 years, Robert M. Hayes, died in November of 2002. She leaves two sons, Thomas J. Hayes and Dennis M. Hayes both of West Boylston; two daughters, Suzanne M. Degnan of Dudley and Roberta J. Mayotte of Killingly, Connecticut; a brother, Nello Leonardi of Worcester; and five grandchildren, Danielle, Evan, Dillon, Matthew and Lauren. Three brothers, Renaldo, Gino and Mario Leonardi and two sisters, Della Leonardi and Matilda Bavosi predeceased her. She was born and raised in West Boylston, daughter of John and Josephine (Ferri) Leonardi and lived 16 years in Edgewater, Florida before returning to West Boylston in 2004.
Mrs. Hayes was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church and the Catholic Women’s Club. She was a member of the Artist Workshop Gallery and St. Gerard Mission’s Church both in Edgewater, Florida and the Volusia County Orchid Society in Deland, Florida. She enjoyed painting and calligraphy, but her greatest pride and joy were her children and grandchildren.
A funeral Mass for Mrs. Hayes will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 18, in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, West Boylston. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, 32 Church Street, West Boylston. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701; or Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester Street, West Boylston, MA 01583. Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling, is directing arrangements.
