S Rosalie A. (Harper) Corcoran

March 8, 1932 — December 25, 2007

HOLDEN – Rosalie A. (Harper) Corcoran, 75, of 31 Montana Drive, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, December 25, 2007, after an illness.

Her husband of 48 years, Robert F. Corcoran, Sr., died in 2003. She leaves her son, Robert F. Corcoran, Jr. of Paxton; two daughters, Cathleen A. Quagliozzi of Worcester and Beth M. Hunt of Oakham; a sister, Pauline Berard of Boylston; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; many nephews and nieces. A son, David J. Corcoran, died in 1979. She was born in Worcester, daughter of C. Edward and Eva (Houde) Harper, and had lived in Holden since 1955. She was a graduate of Commerce High School and attended the W.I.S.E. Program at Assumption College.

Rosalie was the Activities Director at Colony Homes in Worcester and Holden for 10 years. Previously she was Activities Director at the Holden Senior Center for several years where she initiated the Walking Pal and Pen Pal Programs. She was a member of St. George’s Church, its Prayer Shawl Ministry and served as a Eucharistic Minister. She attended “clown school” and brought joy and comfort through her clown ministry, and received the Rose Award from the Mass. Dept. of Elder Affairs. She served on the Board of the Holden Council on Aging, the Wachusett Greenways Committee, a member of the Audubon Society and the Outdoor Sports Club. She was the recipient of the Good Neighborhood Award in 2001 from the Holden Democratic Town Committee. She was a yoga enthusiast and was a First Master in REIKI. She enjoyed traveling and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Relatives and friends of Rosalie are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 27th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 28th, in St. George’s Church, 38 Brattle Street, Worcester. Spring burial will be in Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rosalie’s memory may be made to Wachusett Greenways, P.O. Box 121, Holden, MA 01520.
