HOLDEN – Jeanne A. (Gargolinski) Powers, 65, of Pinecroft Avenue, died at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, July 24, 2009. She was a 25-year cancer survivor.
She leaves her husband of 44 years, John P. Powers; a son, John T. Powers of Rutland; two daughters, Carolyn A. Peura of Richmond, VT and Deborah A. Trottier of Hubbardston; two brothers, Joseph Gargolinski of Greenfield and Paul Gargolinski of Holden; a sister, Therese Palmer of Holden; 5 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A grandson, Justin Trottier, predeceased her. She was born and raised in Worcester, a daughter of Joseph and Helen M. (Dowgert) Gargolinski, and has lived in Holden for the past 39 years.
Jeanne was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Worcester and Anna Maria College in Paxton where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics. She was a Customer Service Trainer for Massachusetts Electric for 18 years, retiring in 2003. During her 20 years as a homemaker, she ran an at-home craft business. She was a member of St. George's Church, the church choir and women's guild.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, July 27th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte.122A), Holden. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 28th, from the funeral home with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. George's Church, 28 Brattle Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, 162 Webster Street, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
