RUTLAND � Annette A. (Ducharme) Mathews, 89, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2011, in Knollwood Nursing Center, West Boylston, after an illness.
Her husband of 49 years, Frederick H. Mathews, Sr., died in 1992. She was predeceased by two sons, Leon J. and Raymond J. Mathews and her brother, Raymond J. Ducharme. She leaves her son, Rick Mathews and his wife Mary of Sterling; a brother, Donald J. Ducharme and his wife Janice of Oregon; two grandchildren, Jacqueline Casello of Leicester and Marc Mathews of Princeton; and 5 great-grandchildren. She was born in Worcester the daughter of Joseph N. and Alice M. (Genest) Ducharme and had lived in Rutland for 49 years.
Annette graduated from Commerce High and the Salter Secretarial School in Worcester. She was an office manager for the State of Mass Public Health for 18 years. She was an active member of St. Patrick�s Church in Rutland, the Women�s Auxiliary of the VFW in Rutland, Rutland Historical Society and the Rutland Senior Center where she volunteered her time for the Meal Site Program. Annette loved to travel, braid rugs, being outdoors, walking, line dancing and aqua aerobics. Her greatest joy was being with her family and she will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
The funeral for Annette will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 9th, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick�s Church, 258 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Rutland. Interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rutland Fire Department and Ambulance Fund, 240 Main Street, Rutland, MA 01543; or to the Rutland Council on Aging, 53 Glenwood Road, Rutland, MA 01543. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, is assisting the family with arrangements.
