PRINCETON - Diane A. Dyer, 75, of Princeton, passed away peacefully in her home after a brief battle with lung cancer on Monday, June 28, 2010.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Gerald "Jerry" T. Dyer, after 50 years of marriage. Along with being survived by her daughters, Cindy Dyer of Boston, Lori Drzewinski of Long Valley, New Jersey, and Jerilyn Wilson of Brownfield, Maine, she is also survived by seven grandchildren, Emily, Tyler and Barrett Wilson and Alison, Tim, Nicki and Jackie Drzewinski, her sons-in-law Scott Wilson and Michael Drzewinski and many dear friends and relatives.
She was born Diane Althea DeSimone on September 6, 1934 in North Providence, Rhode Island. She was the only child of Eva Marie (Patto) & Lawrence DeSimone. Her primary education included Henry Bonnett Elementary School and Classical High School in N. Providence. She went on to receive a BA in Elementary Education at the University of Rhode Island and Masters of Special Education from Lesley College in Cambridge. She received great joy from her teaching days within the Weston Elementary School System in Weston, where she taught 2nd grade for 15 years. She especially enjoyed her time spent with the gifted and talented children.
One of her favorite past times was playing bridge. She was ranked as a Master Level player and played in numerous tournaments and bridge clubs. She was a member of the Weston Golf Club, Oak Hill Golf Club, the WPI Alumni Association and participated in many social clubs such as Newcomers, the Friendly Society and the Black Pearls.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 10 – 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 30th, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling, followed by a 12 noon Mass of Christian Burial in Prince of Peace Church, 5 Worcester Road (Rte. 31), Princeton.
