WORCESTER – Adele (Cohen) Firshein, age 91, died quickly and peacefully on Monday, June 10, 2024, at the Jewish Healthcare Center in Worcester, Mass after a period of declining health.
Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, Adele was the daughter of Pincus and Sarah Cohen. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from New York University, and eventually a Masters Degree from UCONN. Adele worked for many years as a school teacher in Connecticut, and later in the Princeton (Wachusett) schools, as well as schools in Taiwan and Buenos Aires. She was also a highly accomplished Potter and Ceramics Teacher in her own studio, as well as at the Wesleyan Potters and Creative Arts Studio.
Adele was a longtime member of the Worcester Center for Crafts and the Tower Hill Botanical Garden. She was also involved with Art Ride. She was also a member of Temple Emanuel Sinai in Worcester.
Adele will be lovingly missed and remembered by her children, Eva Firshein of Los Angeles, CA, Alan Firshein of Kirkland, WA and David Firshein of Fairfax, CA; her sisters, Bernice “Bashie” Cohen, and Claire “Kitty” Seiffer, both of New Jersey; her nieces and nephews; and her dear friends. She was predeceased by her brothers, Godfrey Cohen and Saul Cohen.
