KEENE, NH - Addison Jackson Murphy, affectionately known as AJ, passed away unexpectedly on June 28th, 2024, at the age of 38 in a tragic car accident. He was a resident of Keene, New Hampshire, but AJ's spirit was that of a gypsy soul, always free and full of positivity.
AJ is survived by his beloved daughter, Maddison Ruth Murphy, whom he lovingly called "Honey Bee." Maddison was the light of his life, and AJ often said she was his greatest creation. He was immensely proud to be her dad and cherished every moment spent with her.
AJ leaves behind his two sisters, Kathan Murphy, Loren Murphy, sister-in-law, Kay Martin and girlfriend Ashley Lauren. He also leaves behind his aunts, uncles, and cousins: Ken Overton and wife Karen Overton, their children Greg Overton, Chris Overton, and Andy Overton, Elizabeth Fulton and husband Joe David Fulton, Kathan Horne and husband David Horne, their children Dyllon Horne, and Oceana Elia-Hintsa, her husband Meseret, and their children Layla and Robel. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Ellen Murphy, as well as by his two grandparents Amanual J. Overton and Charlotte A. Overton.
A graduate of Doherty High School, AJ was passionate about football and played for his high school team. After completing the Job Corps, in 2014 he graduated from Utah EMT Academy and became an emergency medical technician. In 2016, AJ graduated from the Sunset Fire Academy and served as a volunteer firefighter, a role he took great pride in doing. In 2020, he enlisted in the United States Army, and was medically discharged. AJ also obtained his CDL Class A in 2022. His most recent job was with Leader Distribution Systems in Brattleboro, Vermont. He took great pride in these accomplishments as he loved helping people.
Known for his great sense of humor, AJ had an uncanny ability to make people laugh. His honesty was often striking, sometimes overly so, yet he had a kind and sensitive heart, much like a teddy bear. He adored animals, especially his sisters’ dogs, and had a special connection with them.
AJ had a knack for striking up conversations with anyone he met. He had a deep love for history, particularly Viking lore and historical documentaries. He also had a keen interest in exploring conspiracy theories. AJ was a devoted fan of The Office, with a sense of humor that mirrored the characters Michael Scott and Dwight Schrute.
Addison Jackson Murphy will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, his love for his daughter, and the joy he brought into the lives of those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
