Abigail E. Contis

RUTLAND - Abigail E. Contis, 25, a beloved daughter, sister, and granddaughter, passed away peacefully in the arms of her mother, brother, and grandfather Papa Salls, on Monday, January 20, 2025 at Rose Monahan Hospice Home.

Abby was born in Worcester, the daughter of Johannah (Salls) Delaurie and George Contis. While attending the Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children in Canton, Abigail thrived, earning her high school diploma and forming meaningful friendships. She later found joy and support as part of the Seven Hills Foundation and Venture Community Day Care Center in Gardner where her bright spirit left a lasting impression. One of her favorite things to do was to watch movies, particularly the movies Vivo, Alice in Wonderland, and The Bee Movie. Reggae music brought her peace, and she was even able to attend a Damian Marley and the Wailers concert with her friend Billy. Abby was an angel on earth who will always be remembered by her constant smiles, love of Tinkerbell, and bringing overall happiness to anyone who was fortunate enough to be in her life.

She brought endless joy and love to the lives of her mother Johannah Delaurie and stepfather Kevin of Rutland; her siblings, Elijah Contis and Lillian Delaurie; she is deeply cherished by her maternal grandparents, Richard Salls and his wife Donna of Rutland and Elicia (Maki) McGinn and her husband Tony of Barre, as well as paternal grandparents, Ernest and Carol (Chaput) Contis of Holden; greatly missed by her aunts, Alexis McGinn and Christina Perry, and uncles, Chris, John, and Ben Delaurie; and leaves behind her father George Contis of Windham, NH, along with extended family and many friends.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 27th from 5-7 p.m. at The Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street in Holden. A funeral service will be celebrated the following day, Tuesday, January 28th at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment will be private.
