HOLDEN - A. Patricia “Pat” Curtin (Collins), 76, of 161 Parker Ave., Holden, went home to the Lord when she died peacefully in her home, Saturday, August 26, 2006, after a six year battle with ovarian cancer.

DesRosiers and her husband Wilfred of Oxford; nine grandchildren, Daniel and his wife Brenda, Meghan and Joseph Curtin of Holden, Taylor, Shannen and Connor Curtin of Belchertown, and Brian, Amy and Lynn DesRosiers of Oxford; two sisters, T. Virginia Lundstrom of North Dartmouth and Ruth Holmes of Southbridge, as well as a brother, William “Bud” Collins of Simpsonville, S.C. She also leaves her best friend of 55 years, Barbara Dean of Charlton, as well as many dearly loved nieces and nephews. Pat’s husband, Joseph F. Curtin, died in 1971. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Mary Horn and Claire Oberg, as well as a brother, George Collins. She also lost a close cousin, Evelyn Morrissey, who passed away on August 12th of this year.

Pat was born in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of George W. and Anna Mae Collins. She moved to Worcester as a young child and settled in Holden in 1955. She was a graduate of Commerce High School and a self-taught bookkeeper. She practiced her trade for several years in her late husband’s business before beginning a 26-year career with Berg-Marshall Advertising Co. of Millbury and Worcester in 1972.

Pat loved traveling and through the love and generosity of her nephew, Paul Lundstrom, was fortunate to take many trips during the later years of her life. She also enjoyed her grandchildren, old movies, Frank Sinatra’s music and the Boston Red Sox. During her illness, she took great comfort in reading the Bible and the deepening of her faith gave her the strength to wage a courageous battle against her illness. She will be deeply missed.

A celebration of Pat’s life will be hosted by the Worcester County Church of Christ at the Seventh Day Adventist Church building located at 2 Airport Drive, in Worcester at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29.
