MIDDLETON, NH/WESTBOROUGH – William “Billy” J. Hanlon, 71, of Middleton, NH, formerly of Westborough, died peacefully with his family by his side at Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NH, on Tuesday, February 19, 2013. He was born in Everett, the son of William J. and Agnes (Brennan) Hanlon.
Billy was a 1960 graduate of Chelsea High School and graduated from Wentworth Institute in 1962. During his 45-year career as a mechanical design engineer, he worked for Digital Equipment Corp., Data General Corp. and retired from Bose Corp. in 2007. He was a member of the Lions Club of Westborough. He enjoyed summers at Sunrise Lake in NH, trips to Cancun and his winter skiing trips.
Billy is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Roberta (Galitz) Hanlon; his daughters, Michelle Locke and her husband Jeffrey of Holden and Beth Wallace and her husband Charles of Shrewsbury; his grandchildren, James, Rebecca, Emily and Sarah Wallace and Jared and Rachel Locke; his sisters, Diane Cahill and her husband Frank of Foxboro, Donna Lush and her husband Timothy of Chelsea and Joyce Runnells and her husband Dennis of Sandwich; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Maggie. He was predeceased by his brother, John “Jackie” Hanlon.
The funeral service for Billy will be held on Friday, February 22, at 11:00 a.m., at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Interment will be in the spring.
