Virginia (Ginnie) A. (Lindquist) Samra, age 91, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving husband Raymond, and their children and grandchildren. Born in Worcester, Virginia was the daughter of Anna (Hunter) Lindquist and Gustav Lindquist. She graduated from Commerce High school in 1950 where she was very active in sports. Virginia and Raymond married on June 14, 1953, 5 days after the devastating Worcester tornado. Ginnie was a very active member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral, singing in the Choir for more than 30 years and teaching Sunday school.
Ginnie worked for many years at Norton Co., Raytheon, Arkwright Insurance, and Marlborough Hospital where she made many friends whom she frequently traveled with enjoying many trips to Vermont, and New Hampshire. Ginnie and Ray's travel took them to many destinations including France, Alaska, Hawaii, Bermuda, Aruba, and at the beach in Wells, Maine.
She was an avid bowler and she loved to play and watch golf.
Ginnie lived a life of service. She was very active in the Order of the Eastern Star, Orient Chapter #31 where she held many officer positions, and she served as Grand Ruth at the State level. She also served as mother advisor for the Rainbow Girls for many years. She coordinated so many dinners at the Framingham Masonic Temple that they named the kitchen in her honor.
She leaves behind not only her beloved husband of 70 years Raymond, but also her daughter Deborah Flint and her husband Charlie of Onset, MA and Sorento, FL; Raeanne Bancroft and her husband, Philip, of Marlborough, MA; Christine Miller and her husband Bruce of Hudson, MA; Carol Bradley and her husband Jerry of Framingham, MA; her grandchildren Adam Miller and his wife Kim of Wolcott, VT; Ashley Conley and her husband Adam of Berlin, MA; Matthew Bradley and Jessica Bradley of Framingham; her four great-grandsons Cameron, Brody, Owen, and Beckett Conley, as well as many nephews, nieces, and cousins. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Maureen Samra of Worcester, MA, her sisters Phylis DeNitti of West Boylston, MA, and Joyce Bellerose of Worcester MA. Ginnie was predeceased by her brother Philip Lindquist and her sister June McMahon.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather with Ginnie's family on Saturday, December 30, 2023 for a visiting period from 9:30 -11:00AM in St. George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna Street, Worcester. The funeral service will commence at 11:00 AM in the Cathedral with the Very Rev. Fr. Milad Selim, Dean of the Cathedral officiating. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery in Hudson.
It was Ginnie's wish that in lieu of flowers, and if you wished to make a donation in her memory, that contributions be made to St. George Orthodox Cathedral's Endowment Fund, 30 Anna Street, Worcester 01604.
