HOLDEN – V. Raymond Strandberg, 75, of 61 Bullard Street, died on Thursday, July 21, 2005, in UMass Memorial Healthcare after a brief illness.
He leaves his wife of 46 years, Joann F. (Foley) Strandberg; a son, Steven M. Strandberg and his fiancee, Debra L. Gates of Holden; a niece, Ann Strandberg Sico of Andover; and cousins in Finland, New York and California. A son, Christopher P. Strandberg, died in 1992. Two brothers, Harold O. and Frans E. Strandberg, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of F. Oscar and M. Irene (Juthstrom) Strandberg, and lived in Holden and Punta Gorda, Florida. He was a 1948 graduate of North High School in Worcester, earned a Bachelor’s degree from Clark University in 1952, and a Master’s Degree from Boston University in 1953. He was an army veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Strandberg was a language teacher for 36 years at Northbridge High School in Whitinsville, retiring in 1992. He was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its choir. He was a member of the Charlotte Chorale in Port Charlotte, Florida, and wintered for the last 12 years in Punta Gorda.
The funeral service for Mr. Strandberg will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, in Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in All Faith’s Cemetery, 7 Island Road, Worcester. Calling hours are from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday, July 22, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
