Biography
HOLDEN – Thelma K. (Pyche) Coffin, 90, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Notre Dame Long Term Care in Worcester.
Her husband of 12 years, Everett S. Coffin passed away in 1958. She leaves a son, Steven S. Coffin and his wife Meg of Worcester; a daughter, Sandra M. Lamothe and her husband Marc of Southbridge; a grandson, Michael S. Coffin and his fiancée Kara Beckwith of Brighton. She was born in Nova Scotia, Canada, the daughter of George W. and Leona (Mouzar) Pyche and had lived in Holden for 50 years.
Thelma graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester and later became a library aide in the Holden schools. She worked for over 30 years, mainly at Dawson Elementary School, before she retired in 2002. Thelma was an animal lover, especially horses and cats. She enjoyed horse shows, bowling, spending time at the Holden Senior Center and her summer trips back to Nova Scotia. She was a member of First Congregational Church of Holden.
Thelma’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the care and compassion provided by the staff of both Notre Dame Long Term Care west wing and Notre Dame Hospice.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour on Friday, April 19, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a service at 12 p.m. in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Burial will follow at Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Notre Dame Long Term Care Activities Fund or the Namaste Program, both at 559 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
