RUTLAND – Robert A. Locke, 83 of Rutland, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at home.
He leaves his wife of over 60 years, Frances E. (Hatstat) Locke; two sons, Robert A. Locke, Jr. of Worcester and Perry A. Locke of Brookfield; four daughters, Cynthia M. Paquin of Auburn, Ruth M. Porter of Jackson, TN, Lena I. Bressette of Sturbridge and Rachel E. Mimms of Rutland; his step-mother, Elizabeth (Fielding) Locke of Gardner; a brother, George Locke; two sisters, Laurene Halfrey and Linda Rocheleau; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. A grandson, a great-granddaughter and three brothers predeceased him.
Robert was born in Clinton, the son of Frederick and Dorothy (Allen) Locke and lived all of his life in Rutland. He was Army Veteran station in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Robert was a machinist for 38 years at the former Wain-Roy Company in Hubbardston retiring in 1992. He was a member of The First Congregational Church of Rutland and the Rutland Friends of the Council on Aging. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening and loved to spend time with his family.
A funeral service for Bob will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery in Rutland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rutland Council on Aging, 250 Main Street, Rutland, MA 01543.
