PAXTON/HOLDEN - Leo "Paul" P. Noel, 83, passed away at Clinton Hospital on Sunday, January 18, 2009 after an illness.
He was the beloved husband of Lena L. (Melanson) Noel. He also leaves a daughter, Susan Chviruk and her husband Bill and their sons, Nicholas and Alex all of Auburn; two sisters, Lucille Meacham and her husband Paul of Spencer and Theresa Ayler and her husband Charles of Worcester; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Oscar Noel, four sisters, Germaine Caracciolo, Gabriel Fletcher, Dorothy Proulx, and Madeline Jansson.
Paul was born in Worcester, the son of Joseph and Marie A. (Cloutier) Noel, and lived in Paxton for 24 years and Holden for six years. He served during World War II in the U.S. Navy as a gunner's mate 3rd class aboard the destroyer USS Clemson earning ten bronze stars. He was co-owner and operator of Noel's Auto Body in Worcester for many years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Jefferson and the American Legion Post 341 in Worcester. Paul enjoyed snow skiing and had a passion for square dancing which he and his wife enjoyed for many years.
Paul's family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Summit Elder Care in Worcester for the love and care they gave to Paul.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour at12 noon followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21st, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will be private in Mooreland Cemetery, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
