HOLDEN – Patricia A. (O’Connor) Mahon, 85, of Holden, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester. Born in Lawrence, she was the daughter of Arthur P. and Gertrude (Taffe) O’Connor and lived in Holden for the past 50 years.
Mrs. Mahon graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in Lawrence, attended Boston University and worked as a secretary for the IRS for several years.
She enjoyed knitting, baking and playing bridge. She was an active volunteer for the Holden Nursing Home and Meals on Wheels for many years, as well as the church and school system. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and she will be sadly missed by them.
She was a 50-year member of St. Mary’s Church in Jefferson.
Her husband of 51 years, Raymond T. Mahon, Esquire, passed away in 2008. She is survived by her son, R. Thomas Mahon of Holden; two daughters, Dr. Paula M. Mahon d’Entremont and her husband Robert of Derry, NH and Patricia A. Hurley and her husband James of Holden; a brother, Francis O’Connor and his wife Margaret of Lawrence; six grandchildren, J. Joseph, Eileen, Maura, Elizabeth and Sheila Hurley and Raymond d’Entremont; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by three brothers, Joseph, Richard and Arthur O’Connor and a sister, Mary Minzner.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 21, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden, and again at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, December 22, with a procession to St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton St., Jefferson for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. A committal service will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Holden. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Church, P.O. Box 2200, Jefferson, MA 01522 or to the West Side Neighborhood Health Center at Catholic Medical Center, 88 McGregor St., Manchester, NH 03102.
