Patricia A. Griffin

WORCESTER – Patricia A. (Cummings) Griffin, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, February 17, 2023 at Notre Dame Long Term Care in Worcester. She was 88. Her beloved husband of 60 years, Richard P. Griffin, Jr. died in 2017.
On July 26, 1934, Patricia A. Cummings was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Daniel and Margaret (Foley) Cummings. Raised and educated in Worcester, she graduated from South High School in 1954. While on a blind date, Patsy was introduced to a handsome young student from Holy Cross College, Richard Griffin. They married in October of 1957 at Sacred Heart Church in Worcester and later moved to West Tatnuck where they raised their four children.
Social by nature, Patsy was considered “the life of the party.”
She especially looked forward to spending time with her friends at the Main South-American Legion Post, the Worcester Emblem Club; where she served as Past-President in 1988, the Dinettes Club, her bowling league and most lovingly, The Queens. Her love for laughter and a good joke is what made her so special.
Patsy was devoted to her family and spending time together is what she cherished most in life. She is survived by her three children, Brian D. Griffin and his wife, Pamela of Northborough, Maureen P. Scanlon and her husband, Timothy of Wells, Maine, and Sheila A. Donahue and her husband, Richard of Plymouth; five grandchildren, Leeanne Griffin and her husband, Robert Zielonka, Brendan Griffin and his wife Tiffany, Griffin Scanlon and his wife, Bailey, Erin Scanlon, and Connor Donahue; and a great grandson, Grayson Sean Griffin. Besides her husband Richard, Patsy is predeceased by her daughter, Gael E. Griffin.
The family would also like to extend its sincere gratitude to the staff at Notre Dame Assisted Living and Long Term Care Center for the compassionate care they provided to Pat for so many years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Thursday, February 23, at Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street in Worcester. Immediately following the Mass, Patsy will be laid to rest beside her husband at St. John Cemetery in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Miles Funeral Home in Holden.
