Worcester/Edgartown – Patricia J. (Scanlon) Farley, 76, died peacefully on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Care Dimensions Hospice House, Lincoln, MA. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Andrew P. and Julia T. (Angus) Scanlon.
Patricia graduated from North High School with the class of 1965 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Framingham State College. She taught in Worcester Public Schools for over 30 years before retiring from Thorndyke Road School in 2006. Patricia had a gift for making learning come alive for her students. Whether showcasing her Environmental Chorus, hatching chicks with her class, or sharing ideas through workshops with other teachers, she made learning a fun-filled, rewarding experience.
Patricia lived in Framingham with her family for many years. She loved summering in Ogunquit, ME, Falmouth and especially Martha’s Vineyard, where she ultimately moved to live with her daughter year round. She enjoyed hostessing at the Seafood Shanty in Edgartown and volunteering at local cultural and charity events. Patricia pursued many creative interests over the years, but what she cherished most was listening to live music, savoring her favorite foods, and venturing out with family and friends.
Patricia will be lovingly missed and remembered by her husband of 54 years, James A. Farley; her sons, Christopher J. Farley of Wells, ME and Jared A. Farley of Framingham; her daughter, Jennifer R. Farley and her husband, Richard Bausman of Edgartown; her sisters, Mary Ellen Latino and her husband, Carlo of CA and Barbara Charest of AZ; her grandchildren, Jessyca Farley and Andrew Farley; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, John, Richard and William Scanlon.
