PAXTON – Mildred L. (McCracken) Noel, 87, formerly of Paxton, died peacefully under the loving care of her family and the staff at Knollwood Nursing Center in Worcester. Born and raised in Worcester, Millie was the daughter of Ralph S. and Dorothy E. (Amell) McCracken and lived 35 years in Paxton.
Millie graduated from South High School and Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing both in Worcester. She was a registered nurse and provided care as a private duty nurse in the Worcester area. She was a member of St. Columba Church in Paxton, and the Paxton Women's Club.
She enjoyed both square and round dancing with her husband. Her pride and joy were her nieces and nephews and the time spent with them including skiing trips to Vermont.
Her beloved husband of 35 years, Oscar L. Noel died in 2005. She is survived by her two brothers, Ralph S. McCracken of Dennis and Robert L. McCracken and his wife Dorcas of Holden; nephews and nieces including, Dr. Ralph S. McCracken, Jr. of Worcester, Richard McCracken of Bedford, NY, Sandra Breda of Needham, Scott McCracken of Dennis, Douglas S. McCracken of Old Saybrook, CT, Lisa L.Cikota of Worcester, Robert A. McCracken of Sutton, Jennifer Niemi of Latham, NY; several grand nephews and nieces.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, January 6, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, at St. Columba Church, 10 Richards Ave., Paxton. Interment will follow at Mooreland Cemetery in Paxton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Development Office, 200 Ivy St., Brookline, MA 02446.
