HOLDEN – May E. (Vincent) DelSignore, 91, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 2, 2012 under the loving care of her family, the staff at Visiting Angels and the staff at VNA Hospice. Her husband of 70 years and love of her life, Lieutenant Colonel Rinaldo “Buck” M. DelSignore passed away at home on Thursday, August 16th with his family also by his side. Born in Worcester on May 17, 1921, May was the daughter of Frank and Eva M. (Hinkley) Vincent and lived 46 years in Holden.
May was a 1940 graduate of Commerce High School in Worcester and worked over 30 years for New England Telephone Company both in Worcester and Holden. She was a member of St. Richard of Chichester Church in Sterling, the Telephone Pioneers and was an active participant at the Holden Senior Center where she enjoyed knitting and spending time with her friends.
May always looked forward to family gatherings where she could share her famous meatballs and eggplant, and spend time with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a constant fixture at her grandchildren’s sporting events and in her later years, was her great-grandchildren’s best cheerleader at their own sporting and school events.
She will be remembered by her family and close friends for her selfless and loving nature, free spirited wit and unwavering enthusiasm to enjoy life to the fullest.
She is survived and will be lovingly missed by her four children, Robert P. DelSignore and his wife Cheryl of Princeton, Marie E. DeSantis and her husband Victor of Sterling, Barbara L. Creelman and her husband David of Worcester and Louis P. DelSignore and his wife Gwynn of Princeton; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Arthur and Charles Murphy and a sister, Ethel (Murphy) Gleason all predeceased her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 6, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. May’s funeral will be held on Friday, September 7, from the funeral home at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge Street, Sterling. Interment will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made in memory of Rinaldo and May DelSignore to the Dr. John Schorge Research Fund.
