Marshall H. Mason

March 29, 1941 — July 4, 2024

WEST BOYLSTON – Marshall H. Mason, age 83, passed away at Sterling Village Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on Thursday, July 4th, 2024. Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Hebert and Reba (Pierce) Mason.

Marshall was raised in Worcester where he graduated from North High School with the class of 1959. Shortly after high school, he enlisted and honorably served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Glennon. At 20 years old, he began his long, successful career at Norton Company in Worcester, starting in the mail room making his way up to Purchasing Manager of Ceramics.

Throughout his life, Marshall was a passionate drummer. His talents led him to perform with the Classic Swing Band, Borelli, and the Worcester Symphony Orchestra. He also enjoyed playing golf in his spare time with friends and family.

Marshall was always active in many organizations throughout his life. Early on, he was one of the first EMT’s in Rutland, serving on the first ambulance in town. He did this for over 10 years. He was a longtime member of the Rufus Putnam Lodge in Rutland and the Harold N. Keith American Legion Post 204 in West Boylston.

He is survived by his loving wife, Winifred (Baumgarten) Mason; 2 sons, William Mason and his wife, Nicole of Rutland, Robert Mason and his wife, Linda of Rutland; 2 step-sons, Stephen Arnold and his wife, Doris of Franklin, Jeffrey Arnold and his wife, Rattana of Carrollton, TX; a sister, Judith Wood and her husband, Kenneth of Shirley; 8 grandchildren, Nickolas Arnold and his wife Hannah, Kristin Arnold and Brianna Grotz and her husband Evan, Clayton, Sophia & Elizabeth Mason, Sarah and Emily Fasshauer; a niece and nephew, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Marshall’s family from 9:30 am to 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 17th, at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 70 Highland St., Holden. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am at the church followed by burial at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Marshall’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association @ www.alz.org .
