Biography
WORCESTER - Madeline S. (Idlis) Levine, age 88, died on Friday, August 29, 2014.
Mrs. Levine was born on April 10, 1926 in Springfield, MA to Russian immigrant parents, Michael and Pauline (Primost) Idlis, and lived in Worcester for 67 years.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Stanley Levine; her five children, Bernard (Buzzy) Levine, Richard (Rick) Levine, Elliot Levine, Rachael Levine and Robert (Duke) Levine, as well as eight grandchildren and three-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Levine was a lifetime learner, graduating with an Associate’s degree from Mt. Ida College in 1945. After raising her family of five, she went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree from Clark University in 1976 and later a Master's degree from Boston University.
She was a founding member and past president of Worcester Institute of Senior Education (WISE).
Her professional career included her work as a social worker at Worcester Youth Guidance and a case worker at the Jewish Healthcare Center.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 1:00 P.M. ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 31, AT TEMPLE EMANUEL SINAI, 661 SALISBURY ST., WORCESTER, UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN. Burial will be in B'Nai Brith Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Genesis House, 274 Lincoln Street, Worcester, MA 01605; or to a charity of one's choice.
