RUTLAND/SALISBURY – Allan L. Cook, 88, formerly of Rutland, died on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 in Tufts Medical Center.

His wife of 27 years, Althea V. (Owens) Cook died December 10, 1976. He is survived by two daughters, Cheryl M. Cook of Salisbury with whom he lived and Judith T. Cook and her husband Hector Segura of Northwood, NH; two grandchildren, Samantha and Mackenzie; a sister and brother-in-law, Rhoda and Donald T. Nicholson; and several nieces and nephews. He was born and raised in Amesbury the son of William L. and Ethel C. (Temple) Cook and lived 19 years in Rutland before moving to Salisbury in 1978.

Mr. Cook graduated from Amesbury High School in 1941 and attended the Wentworth Aviation School. He was an airplane mechanic and Navy Veteran of World War II. He worked as a central office technician for the New England Telephone Company for over 30 years and was a member of its Pioneers. He was an avid sports fan, especially football and enjoyed golfing and fishing. He will be sadly missed by his family and pets.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, June 25th, starting at 12 p.m., followed by a funeral service for Mr. Cook at 1:30 p.m. in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress St., 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02210.
