LEICESTER/PRINCETON/BARNSTABLE – Judith (O’Brien) Briggs, 84, beloved wife of the late Ernest H. Briggs, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, September 15, 2022. Born in Worcester and raised in Shrewsbury, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Stella (Sherberjko) O’Brien.
Judy enjoyed living among the tight knit community of Princeton. She was a member of the First Congregational Church where she was very active. She was a talented artist and painter and owned Country Pleasures in Princeton where she sold antiques and craft items, as well as several of her own creations. After the passing of her beloved husband, she moved to Cape Cod and spent the next thirty years living in Barnstable. In her later years, she returned to the area to be closer to her family.
Judy was a very spiritual person and her life centered on helping others. Her door was always open, and seats at the dinner table were always full. Judy encouraged friends and family to take a moment to find the beauty in every day. In keeping with Judy’s spirit and the example she set for others, please take a moment for yourself to see the beauty around you or perhaps offer a random act of kindness to someone in need.
She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her daughter, Tracey Briggs-Annetts and her husband, Philip; her five grandchildren, Justin and Travis McCauley and Brian, Sean and Samantha Briggs’ and her four great-grandchildren, Teagan, Quinlan, Jackson and Jase. In addition to her husband, Ernie, and her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Brien Briggs; her daughter, Kelly Ann Briggs; and her two sisters, Arlene O’Brien and Kathy Lee.
A memorial service honoring Judith’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 24 at the First Congregational Church in Princeton, 14 Mountain Road, Princeton. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
