Chester J. Sendrowski

HOLDEN – Chester J. Sendrowski, 92, of Parker Avenue, died peacefully on Monday, April 27, 2009 in his home after an illness.

His wife of 37 years, Alice C. (Lempicki) Sendrowski, died in 1992. He leaves two sons, Steven C. Sendrowski and his wife Susan, and Michael S. Sendrowski and his wife Christine, all of Holden; two grandchildren, Robert and Meghan Sendrowski; several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Edmund and Henry Sendowski, and a sister, Jane Samko, predeceased him. He was born in Lawrence, a son of Stanley and Alexandra (Harubin) Sendrowski and lived 49 years in Holden.

Chester was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade High School and attended Worcester Junior College. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving on Guam, Saipan and Tinian as a Seaman First Class, Aviation Ordinance. He was awarded the American Theatre Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a machinist and toolmaker at Reed Rolled Thread and Die Company in Holden for 42 years, retiring in 1978. He was a member of St. George's Church, the Polish American Veterans, the Veteran of Foreign Wars South Works Post 3657, and the Vernon Hill American Legion Post 435 all in Worcester. He served with the Civilian Conservation Corps.

A private funeral service for Mr. Sendrowski will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, 162 Webster Street, Worcester. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Summit ElderCare, 277 East Mountain Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
