WEST BOYLSTON – Alcide J. L'Ecuyer, Jr., 80, of Lancaster St., passed away peacefully on Monday, January 11, 2010 in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home, surrounded by his family.
His wife of 53 years, Dorothy S. L'Ecuyer, died in 2004. He leaves two daughters, Dorothy M. Harrington of West Boylston and Paulette P. Boisvert and her husband Mark of Uxbridge; three sons, retired West Boylston Police Chief Alcide A. L'Ecuyer and his wife Joy of West Boylston, James J. L'Ecuyer and his wife Denise of Worcester and Timothy R. L'Ecuyer and his wife Lori of Jefferson; two sisters, Priscilla Graves of Montpelier, VT and Anita Lineen of Baldwinville; 12 grandchildren; a great-grandson; and nephews and nieces. Two sisters, Lorraine LeBlanc of Leominster and Rita L'Ecuyer of Malden, predeceased him.
Al was born in Fitchburg, son of Alcide J. and Priscilla (Gauthier) L'Ecuyer, Sr., and has lived in West Boylston for over 55 years. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean conflict and participated in action against aggressor forces along the Naktong Kang River line and the assault and seizure of Inchon, Korea.
Along with his wife Dorothy, were the originators and founders of Meola's Ice Cream, Inc. in West Boylston where they worked for 48 years. He was a member of St. Christopher's Church, enjoyed traveling to Florida and visiting Disney.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 14th, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. The funeral will be held on Friday, January 15th, from the funeral home with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Christopher's Church, 950 West Boylston Street (Rte. 12), Worcester. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Church Street, West Boylston. In lieu of flowers, donations in Al's memory may be made to the Town of West Boylston Fire Dept. Ambulance Fund, 39 Worcester Street, West Boylston, MA 01583.
