STERLING – Ian M. Brown, 17, of 64 Holden Road, died Friday, January 20, 2006, in UMass Memorial Hospital, Worcester, from injuries received in an automobile accident in Sterling.
He leaves his parents, Norman L. and Sharon (Coleman) Brown; a brother at home, Jason V. Brown; and his maternal grandparents, James and Linda Coleman of Jamaica.
Ian was in his junior at South Lancaster Academy with aspirations to attend Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama, where he would begin his education to become a physician. At South Lancaster Academy he was co-captain of the basketball team. He was proficient at playing the cello and was a member of the New England Youth Ensemble where he performed throughout New England and as far away as Jamaica. Ian was strong in his faith and was a member of the Village Seventh-Day Adventist Church in South Lancaster.
A memorial service for Ian will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 25, in the Village Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 75 Sawyer Street, South Lancaster. Memorial donations may be made in Ian’s memory to South Lancaster Academy, Ian M. Brown Scholarship Fund, George Hill Road, South Lancaster, MA 01523.
