WEST BOYLSTON – Howard F. Hanson, 79, of Maple Street, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 in Radius Healthcare Center, Worcester.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Winifred (Swenson) Hanson; two daughters, Holly Hanson Pearlstein and her husband Mark of Worcester and their children, Spencer and Griffin and Heidi Farrow and her husband Dana of Brookline, N.H. and their children Autumn and Thea; and several nieces and nephews. Two sisters, Shirley Bjornlund and Adeline White predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, the son of Frank and Martha (Hogberg) Hanson and had lived in Holden before moving to West Boylston in 1968.
Mr. Hanson graduated from Holden High School and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Norton Company and the State Mutual Life Insurance Company both in Worcester. He most recently worked as a bar tender at the Manor and Howard Johnson Restaurants in West Boylston and the Tatnuck Country Club in Worcester. He was a member of the Harold N. Keith American Legion Post # 204 in West Boylston.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour from 1 to 2 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 12th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will take place in the spring.
