Henry T. Nosel

HOLDEN - Henry T. Nosel, 95, formerly of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 1, 2016 at Oakdale Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, West Boylston. He was born and raised in Worcester, a son of the late Joseph and Sophie (Modzelewski) Nosel.
Henry graduated from Commerce High School. For more than 30 years, Henry worked as a machinist and later, in the quality control department of Lowell Corporation, a local wrench manufacturing company. As a member of the greatest generation, Henry proudly served in the 4th Division of the US Army during World War II, stationed in the EAME Theater including in Normandy, Northern and Central France, the Ardennes and Rhineland. He was a member of the Greendale Retired Men’s Club, a former member of the College Hill Civic Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. An avid outdoorsman, Henry always enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Century Sportsman’s Club, Auburn.
His beloved wife, Alice A. (Gaffney) Nosel died in 2008. He leaves his two children, James H. Nosel and his wife, Kelley of Rutland and Janet Ann Stricos of Holden; his brother, Julien “Lou” Nosel and his wife, Helen of Worcester; his sister, Angie Leblanc of Shrewsbury; his four grandchildren, Matthew and Andrew Stricos and Patrick and Delaney Nosel; his two great grandchildren, Jack and Scarlett Stricos; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph and his sisters, Jane Butt Sklarz and Agnes Tivenan.
Relatives and friends are invited to join Henry’s family for a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 6, at 10 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial, with military honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Patient Activity Fund, Oakdale Rehab. and Nursing Ctr., 76 N. Main Street, West Boylston, MA 01583 or to the Hiram O. Taylor American Legion Post, Sterling.
