STERLING — Helena M. (Seifert) Bullard, aged 100, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 12, 2024, at Oakdale Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in West Boylston. Born in Clinton, she was the daughter of the late George and Nora (Flanagan) Seifert. Helena graduated from Leominster High School.
In 1947, Helena married the love of her life, the late Robert L. Bullard, Sr. and together they made their home in Sterling. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to caring for her family. Her lifelong care for her son Robert was a true example of devoted motherly love. Helena was a member of St. Richard of Chichester Church in Sterling, where she cherished many friendships.
Throughout her life, she held a deep passion for dance. She taught the basics of ballroom dancing to scores of youngsters in Sterling, as well as ballet, tap and baton twirling that included state champions. Many of her students displayed their talents at dance recitals in the old Sterling Town Hall in the 1950 and 60's.
The family thanks her in home care givers, April, Daisy, Caitlin, and Kirsty for their years of excellent service and the staff at Oakdale Nursing. A special thank you to her former dance student and friend for 70 years, Janet Hawkes, who faithfully called her every day.
Helena was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Bullard, in 2012, as well as her son, Robert L. Bullard, Jr. in 2021. She is survived by her grandson, Daniel F. Bullard and spouse Christina of Leominster, and her nephew, Michael Flanagan of Sterling and niece Joyce Flanagan of Novato, CA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Monday, February 26, 2024 at St. Richards Church, Sterling. Interment will be held privately later in Oak Hill Cemetery in Sterling. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sterling Fire Fighters Ambulance Fund, PO Box 515, Sterling, MA 01564.
