George A. F. Anderson

HOLDEN – George A. F. Anderson, 95, of 202 Parker Avenue, died Sunday, December 26, 2004, in the Hospice Residence, Worcester

His wife, Doris E. (Strand) Anderson, died in 1995. He leaves a son, Gordon K. Anderson and his wife Marion of Holden; three grandsons, James, Jon and Jeffery Anderson; a granddaughter, Eileen A. Connolly; a great-granddaughter, Kathryn Grace Connolly; and several nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Gustaf and Richard Anderson, and a sister, Susan Newton, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester the son of Oscar and Christina (Knutson) Anderson and lived 54 years in Holden.

Mr. Anderson worked at Norton Company in Worcester for 42 years, retiring in 1971. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Holden where he served on the Church Council and sang in the choir. Previously he was a long time member of Zion Lutheran Church in Worcester where he served as the Sunday School Superintendent, also served on the Church Council and sang in the choir. He was a 60 year member of Morning Star Lodge of Masons, Quinsigamond Lodge Vasa Order of America, Mendelson Singers and Greendale Retired Men’s Club.

A memorial service for Mr. Anderson will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 30, in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 346 Shrewsbury Street, Holden. Burial will be private in All Faith’s Cemetery in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 346 Shrewsbury Street, Holden, MA 01520. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, is directing arrangements.
