HOLDEN – Frederick "Fred" H. Fricka, Jr., 59, of Jackson St., of the Jefferson section of Holden, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2009 in UMass Hospital, University Campus, Worcester, after many years with an illness. He was predeceased by his mother, Amalia M. (Landenberger) Fricka, and survived by his father, Frederick H. Fricka, Sr.
He leaves his wife of 30 years, Janice E. (Walker) Fricka; a son, Erick M. Fricka of Holden, a daughter, Kristin E. Fricka of the Jefferson; a brother, Stephen P. Fricka and his wife Josie of Orlando, FL; a nephew, Christopher Fricka of Maryland; and several other nephews and nieces. He graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School in Worcester, The Culinary Arts Institute of Boston and the North Bennett Street School of Boston. He was a tradesman and business owner for many years before retiring in 2003 due to his illness. He was an active member of the community volunteering at the Wachusett Food Pantry. He was also a member of the Rufus Putnam Lodge of Masons in Rutland. He enjoyed many things including cooking, traveling abroad, traveling to Cape Cod and camping. He loved being active in the community donating his time to many different causes, but most of all he loved being with his family. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.
Calling hours for Fred will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, January 31st, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wachusett Food Pantry, P.O. Box 62, Jefferson, MA 01522.
