S Mildred E. (Mentch) Coy

August 1, 1916 — February 23, 2010

HOLDEN - Mildred E. Coy, 93, of Holden passed away in the Sterling Healthcare Center and went to be with the Lord, February 23, 2010. She was born August 1, 1916. Her parents were Clyde & Lola (Martin) Mentch. Mildred was married to the late Forrest W. Coy who passed away in 1971.

She is survived by her son, Dennis F. & his wife Kathy Coy; grandchildren, Benjamin & Sarah Coy, and Sarah's fiancé, Brian Davies all of Holden. She is also survived by three brothers, Frank Mentch of Erie, PA, Clyde Mentch of Indiana, PA & Kenny Mentch and his wife Marie of Penn Run, PA; two sisters, Elva Alsop of Indiana, PA and Lola (Mentch) Bollinger & her husband Charles of Penn Run, PA; and sister-in-law, Thelma Mentch of Indiana, PA. Her brother, Paul Mentch and sister, Eleanor Huston preceded her passing. Mildred is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Mildred was raised in the town of Penn Run, PA. She spent much of her childhood working on the Mentch family farm, and graduated from Indiana High School. She married Forrest Coy in 1948 and along with her husband and son operated a 200 acre farm which was host to many family events, and was the focal point for many of her nieces and nephews. Many baseball games and cookouts took place over the years. Mid always made sure everyone had an enjoyable time.

She worked for G C Murphy Company for many years. She also was employed by the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. In 1966, she and her husband sold the family farm and moved to Pine Flats. After her husband passed away she moved to Indiana, PA where she enjoyed her grandchildren and worked as a hostess for McDonalds. She took tremendous pride in her work and enjoyed serving people.

She moved to Holden in 1983 and was a resident of Checkerberry Village. She had numerous friends and attended the First Baptist Church of Holden. Her biggest joy in life was attending the sporting events of her grandchildren, Ben & Sarah. Grandma Coy was always at the baseball games, soccer matches and track meets of her grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Her family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Sterling Healthcare Center and the staff of the Brookhaven Hospice.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 25th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Funeral services and burial will be private in Indiana, Pennsylvania.
