Doris E. (Mongeau) Hawkins

July 28, 1924 — March 31, 2013

HOLDEN – Doris E. (Mongeau) Hawkins, 88, of Holden, passed away at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation in Leicester on March 31, 2013, following a short stay on hospice. She was born in Brooklyn, CT, the daughter of Frank and Jeanette (LaCross) Mongeau.



Doris was raised in Stamford, CT and was a private housekeeper for many families in Princeton where she lived for 20 years before moving to Holden 30 years ago. She was a past Commander of the Ladies Auxiliary of Clinton VFW. She enjoyed gardening in her backyard, country music and enjoying cookouts with her family and extended family. Doris was proud of her French and Native American (Penobscot) Heritage.



Doris leaves her son, Richard E. Hawkins and his wife Pauline of Holden; her daughters, Nancy Kristoff and her husband George of Sterling and Sheila Gramm and her husband Bruce of Winchendon; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughters, Linda C. Hawkins and Carol A. Hawkins-Greene; her brother, Earl Guillette, her sister, Florence Piorkowski and her twin sister, Mary Yonkers.



Funeral services for Doris will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Wachusett Food Pantry, P.O. Box 62, Jefferson, MA 01522. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden is assisting the family with arrangements.
