Dennis R. Hall

December 18, 1944 — January 8, 2014

WORCESTER – Dennis R. Hall, 69, of Mountainshire Dr., was stricken ill on Monday and passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at UMass Memorial Medical Center, University Campus. Dennis was the son of Joseph Scucko and Maxine C. (Mandell) Hall and lived his entire life in Worcester.

Dennis graduated from Commerce High School in 1963 and worked at Astra Pharmaceuticals in Worcester, now AstraZeneca in Westborough, for 38 years retiring in 2002. He passionately enjoyed his part-time career as a host DJ at various local venues including a Muscular Dystrophy Association benefit which proceeds went directly to Jerry’s Kids. Music was an important part of Dennis’ life, particularly music of the 50's and 60’s era. He was a wealth of knowledge when it came to recollecting musical artists, their stories and the record labels they played under. Playing the Massachusetts Lottery was his favorite pastime. His greatest joy in life was vacationing with his wife on their many cruises or just staying home and spending time together with their three cats.

His is survived and will be lovingly missed by his beloved wife of 47 years, Carol J. (Cabana) Hall; his sister, Carol A. Parker of Worcester; his brother-in-law, Rodney Cabana of Worcester; three nieces, Kathleen Loftus and her partner, Jay Cormier of Worcester, Kelley Martin and her husband, Daniel of N. Oxford and Cheryl Cabana of Paxton; five nephews, Edward Loftus and his wife, Karen of Southbridge, Ronald Cabana and his wife, Debbie of Greensville, SC, Mark Cabana and his wife, Dawn-Marie of Jefferson, Christopher Cabana of Worcester, and Matthew Cabana of Charlton and his partner, Kathleen Duvarney of Worcester; six grandnieces, Kylee Loftus and Colleen Loftus, Lyndsay Ball and her husband, Robert, Jennifer Cabana, Kaylin Cabana, and Jessica Duvarney; seven grandnephews, Daniel J. Martin, Jr., Sean Martin, Kevin Loftus, Matthew Cabana and his wife, Angie, Timothy Cabana and his wife, Celeste, Nicholas Cabana and Daniel Duvarney; a great-grandniece to be born in May and a great-grandnephew who will be born in January. He is predeceased by his brother, Ronald E. Hall, two brothers-in-law, Leonard Cabana and Raymond Parker, two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Cabana and Barbara Cabana, and his three cats.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Dennis’ family from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 12, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A funeral service honoring his life will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 13, at the funeral home followed by interment in Notre Dame Cemetery, 162 Webster Street, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
