BARRE – David N. Peabody, Sr., 68, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday July 28, 2023, after battling an illness for many years.
Born in Holden on January 1st, 1955. David was the son of Kenneth and Bertha (Becky) Kohlstrom. David was a lifelong resident of Central Massachusetts, where he met his wife Donna when they were children living in Worcester, Massachusetts. They married in 1977 and were lovingly married for 46 years. They eventually settled in Barre, Massachusetts, where they raised their three children, David, Kerry, and Kevin.
After graduating high school from North High in Worcester, David joined the Marine Corps for six years. David worked at U.S. Steel, then Norton Company for 13 years, and finally worked many years at Quabbin Regional High School from which he retired due to illness.
David will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife, Donna (Auger) Peabody of Barre, his son David Peabody Jr. and his wife, Sara (Morin) of Auburn, MA, his daughter Kerry Wells and her partner, Jim Parker of Ware, MA, and son Kevin Peabody of Athol, MA., sisters Dawn LeClaire and partner Ed Kimmel of Nevada, Eve Yarmosh and her husband Michael of Pennsylvania. David also leaves behind a brother-in-law, Richard Collette of Holden and many nieces and nephews. Also left behind are his cherished grandchildren, Jocelyn and Lucas Wells of Ware, MA. David was anxiously waiting for the arrival of his first great grandchild. David was predeceased by his brothers, Michael Dumas and Geno Peabody, and sister, Patricia Collette.
David was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed sports, especially rooting for the Patriots and Red Sox. David also loved spending time working on his yard and gardens.
Family and friends will gather to honor David’s memory on August 9, at Miles Funeral Home at 1158 Main Street, Holden. Calling hours will be from 4-6, a memorial service will follow immediately after at the funeral home.
