Robert Bross

BOLTON – Robert Bross died peacefully with his family at his side on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at the Golden Living Center, Worcester, at the age of 80.

He was born in Newark, NJ on July 24, 1928, the son of Harold N. Bross and Mabel (Willis) Bross. He grew up in Long Island, NY. He had profound respect for the United States Marine Corps and served from June 1948 to August 1956 as a Staff Sergeant, "Semper Fi". He lived in Bolton for almost 25 years. He worked for Raytheon Co. and Genrad Co. as an Engineer/Draftsman. He owned and operated Cap & Ballville Guns, Inc. in Bolton – a retail and gunsmith business. For many years he lived in Pembroke before moving back to reside in Bolton in 2005.

He was a skilled draftsman and gunsmith, and enjoyed woodworking, designing, collecting rifles, and target shooting all of his life. He was a life member at The Old Colony Sportsman Club in Pembroke, a member of the NRA, and a member of Law Enforcement Marine Corps Assoc. in the Acton/Maynard area. He organized the U.S. Marine Corps annual Birthday celebrations for local comrades of the Old Guard Marines Group.

He leaves his children, Claudia J. Rundlett and her husband Brad of Lancaster, Amy R. Grady of Auburn and Carleton R. Bross of Grafton; a sister, Dorothy J. Bross of New York, NY; five grandchildren, Andrew R. Grady of Maynard, Samantha C. Lutes of Clinton, Daniel R. Rundlett of Lancaster, Steven R. Bross and Nathan K. Bross both of Clinton; a niece, Sabrina M. O'Brien of Halifax. Two brothers Harold and Ted Bross predeceased him.

A private service with military honors will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon. There are no calling hours. Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling is directing arrangements.
