PAXTON– Isabel A. (Garofoli) Lysik, 87, of West Street, died peacefully on Saturday, June 6, 2009 in her home after an illness.
Her husband of 64 years, Joseph R. Lysik died in 2003. She is survived by her daughters, JoAnn Lysik of Paxton and Donna J. Gillis and her husband Bruce of Princeton; a son, Steven J. Lysik of Brookfield; her brother, John Garofoli of Shrewsbury; two sisters, Lucy Moynihan of Shrewsbury and Lois LaHair of Nevada; 4 grandchildren, Michael Nuzzolilo, Jennifer Gillis-Smith, Michele Lysik Jaillet and Meghan Durning; 5 great-grandchildren, Jewlia and Vanessa Durning, Nicolas and Zachary Nuzzolilo, and Brady Smith; nephews, nieces and cousins. A brother, Maurice Garofoli and four sisters, Martha Mattress, Frances Kurtz, Ann Davis and Theresa Picard, all predeceased her.
Mrs. Lysik was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of Donato and Maria (Consiglio) Garofoli and has lived in Paxton for the last 40 years. She worked as a Quality Control Inspector at Sprague Electric for over 10 years. Previously she worked at David Clark Company in Worcester where she worked on the Apollo 13 space suits. She was a member of St. Columba Church and was a devoted mother to her family. She cherished the times she had with her children, grandchildren, extended family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte.122A), Holden. The funeral for Mrs. Lysik will be held on Wednesday, June 10th, from the funeral home with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Columba Church, 18 Richards Avenue, Paxton. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 311Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
