Scott C. O’Neill, 56 of Worcester passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 with his family by his side. Scott was born in Norwood, MA on May 8,1968 to Peggy (Strong) Parker and the late Charles O’Neill.

Scott graduated from Assabet Valley Regional Vocational Tech HS in 1986. He was employed by Ace and Acme Fine Furniture Movers until 2008 when his illness prevented him from continuing to work. He was a member of Teamsters Local 82.

Scott met his wife Christine in 1996. They were married June 12, 1999. They started their family in 2001 with the birth of their son Brendan followed by son Tyler in 2003.

Scott was a talented athlete in his youth, playing baseball, football, hockey and BMX. His passion for sports was passed down to his boys. Despite his illness he was a very proud sports dad and watching his sons excel at the sports he loved were his happiest moments. He was the unofficial team photographer of every team his boys were on. He could not have been more proud when both his sons made the Worcester Wildcats varsity hockey team in their freshman years. He was an original season ticket holder of the Worcester IceCats and loved to bring his boys to games starting when they were infants. He was also a devoted cat dad to Seamus, Riley and Rory and they will miss him very much.

Scott will be profoundly missed by his wife of 25 years, Chrissy (Root), his sons Brendan and Tyler; His mother Peggy and her husband Tom Parker; his brother Michael and his wife Shannon O’Neill; his in-laws Carolyn and David Root; his brother in law Danny and his wife Sonia Root and niece Jenna Root. He also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Charles O’Neill; his grandparents Robert and Peg Strong; Caroll and Marjorie O’Neill; numerous aunts; uncles; and a cousin.

Scott’s family would like to thank UMass Memorial CCU staff for assisting in making his last days as comfortable and peaceful as possible. The ER staff at UMass University campus who cared for him during his final ER visit. A very special thank you to his Palliative Care doctor, Dr. Shaun Toomey whom Scott trusted and loved for his care and guidance navigating the end of his life; his brother in law Danny whose knowledge in paramedicine was reassuring on more than a few occasions; Kerry Driscoll for her love, support, assistance and guidance through multiple hospital stays and beyond; and Jennifer Lemieux for her friendship and support during Scott’s final days.
