HOLDEN – Joanne D. (McCarthy) Knox, 93, formerly of Raymond St., died peacefully under the loving care of her family and the staff at the Christopher House in Worcester on Thursday, April 19, 2012. She was born in Milford, the daughter of James M. and Emmeline M. (Belland) McCarthy and lived over fifty years in Holden.
Joanne was a graduate of Westborough High School and Fairchild Secretarial School. Prior to marriage, she worked at Sterling Counter Company in Marlborough as a secretary. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Jefferson.
Mrs. Knox is survived by her daughter, Patricia K. Cressman and her husband David of Tewksbury, a son-in-law Neil Howard, and her daughter-in-law Gale Knox. She is also survived by her grandchildren Ronald Howard and his wife Susan, Michelle Howard, Sarah Gagnon and her husband Andrew, Elizabeth Cressman, Jeffrey Knox, Sam Knox, Andy Knox, and her great grandson Max Howard. She was predeceased by her loving husband of over fifty years, Leonard, her daughter Betty Howard and her son James Knox.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden on Monday, April 23, followed by a procession to St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton St., Jefferson where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Holden. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
