Shirley Robins

GARDNER - Shirley I. (Arlin) Robins, 80, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at UMass Memorial Healthcare - University Campus, Worcester. Shirley was born in Worcester, the daughter of Karl and Tyyne (Puhakka) Arlin and had lived in Gardner for the last ten years.

Shirley grew up in Rutland and graduated from Wachusett Regional High School with the class of 1958. With a desire to help others, she went on to earn her Bachelor's in Teaching from Worcester State College and decided to pursue a career in Teaching. Shirley taught in Los Angeles for a time and then moved back to Massachusetts and taught for various school districts there. During her 40 years as a Teacher, Shirley helped thousands of students and made long lasting friendships with her colleagues. Shirley was a gifted artist and especially enjoyed expressing herself through her paintings. She also played the piano beautifully. Shirley will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Shirley will be lovingly missed and remembered by her son, Mark Prouty; her sisters, Bette O'Coin and her husband, Bill of Leicester, Gail Mann of Paxton and Sally Peters and her husband, Don of Greenbank, WA.

Funeral services are private and under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden, MA.
